This post has all of my recommendations for Kiawah Island in South Carolina! The main thing to do is to stay at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. We stayed at the main hotel which is called The Sanctuary, but you can also rent a villa or a house. There are a lot of fun things to do in Kiawah, and I’m going to review everything you need to know before you go! 🏖️

First, let’s get our bearings. 🤣 Here’s where Kiawah Island is on a map. It’s about an hour drive south of Charleston, and a 2 hour drive north of Savannah.
Getting There
If you’re flying, the airport to fly into is the Charleston International Airport (CHS). You can check flights below. Then from there, it’s about a 1 hour Uber ride from there to the resort.
Getting Around
It’s not necessary to have a car on the island, since you’re pretty much going to be staying on the resort property the entire time. However, if you wanted more privacy and wanted to rent a car instead of take an uber from the airport, you can check out car rentals here.

Best Things To Do
1. Beach
If you’re staying at The Sanctuary, the beach is right there. They have umbrellas, towels, chairs, and everything you would need.
2. Bike
One of the best things to do is rent bikes and explore the island. There are a lot of great biking trails, and we biked from the hotel to the Marsh Island View Tower.
3. Pool
There are so many pools to choose from here. They have one right at the hotel, there’s another one with a water slide, and then they also have an indoor pool.
4. Charleston
You might want to consider also checking out Charleston since it’s so close!
Restaurants
The Sanctuary has 2 main restaurants and a few other eateries, like a cafe and an ice cream shop. Then there are also a few other restaurants elsewhere on the island.
