This post has everything you need to know about Amelia Island! We stayed at the OMNI Amelia Island Resort, which is a family-friendly resort on the beach. Since it’s so far north in Florida, the vibe feels more like Georgia / South Carolina than Florida. So if you like places like Kiawah or Sea Island, this would be another great option.
Map
First, let’s get our bearings. 🤣 Here’s where Amelia Island is on a map, it’s about an hour drive north of Jacksonville, and very close to the Georgia border.

Getting There
If you’re flying, the airport to fly into is Jackson International Airport (JAX). You can check flights below. Then from there, it’s about a 30 minute drive to Amelia Island. It’s not necessary to rent a car since the resort has everything you’ll need.
Rooms
Activities
There are so many things to do at the resort, and I’ll list some of my favorites below.
1. Beach
2. Pool
3. Shopping
There’s a mini town you can shop in and explore right on the resort grounds.
4. Biking

5. Nature Center
6. Kids Club
Restaurants
There are tons of dining options, and I’ll link the full list below. We went to Surfcaster for dinner.

Weather
We went in late April and it was warm during the day and cool at night. We didn’t swim in the ocean since the water was too cold.
