There are 4 main methods of transportation to know about in Hoboken, and those are the Path train, the bus, the ferry, and the light rail. In this post I’m going to review all of them, and tell you everything you need to know!

The Path Train
The Path is a train that goes through a tunnel under the Hudson River into NYC. You can either take it to midtown Manhattan (33rd street), or downtown Manhattan (World Trade Center).

The Bus
There are a few bus lines that you can take from Hoboken, but the one that goes into NYC is the 126 line.
- Where to get on:
- You can get on the bus at the Hoboken Train Station, or at any of the stops along Washington Street.
- Where it goes:
- Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan
- Cost: $4.00

- Origin: Hoboken
- Destination: Port Authority Bus Terminal

The Ferry
If it’s a hot summer day, you’re not gonna want to take the Path to the city. It gets so hot down there, and taking the ferry is the way better option.
- Where to get on:
- Hoboken Train Station
- Hoboken 14th Street pier
- Where it goes:
- Midtown NYC – 39th Street
- Brookfield Place Terminal (Downtown Manhattan)
- Pier 11 / Wall Street (Downtown Manhattan)
- Cost: It depends on where you’re going but around $8 – $12.

The Light Rail
Hoboken also has a light rail train, which connects Hoboken to the surrounding cities like Jersey City to the south, and Weehawken to the north.
- The Lines:
- Northbound Hudson – Bergen Line: Goes north toward Weehawken
- Southbound Hudson – Bergen Line: Goes south through Jersey City
- Where to get on:
- Hoboken Train Station, the 2nd Street station, or the 9th Street station
- Where it goes:
- Northbound line goes toward Weehawken
- Southbound line goes toward Jersey City
- Cost: $2.55
