This post has everything you need to know about The Greenbrier! It’s a huge resort in West Virginia that is pretty remote, but it has just about everything you can think of. Whitewater rafting, biking, hiking, horseback riding, carriage rides, bowling, an arcade, pools, tennis courts, archery, golf, off – road vehicles, kayaking, paddle boarding, … you get the point. Literally everything. 😄 If you can think of an activity, they probably have it. So it’s a trek to get to, but once you get there, you’ll see it is absolutely worth the trek. Not only does it have everything, but it is also beautiful. Like, spectacular actually. The whole resort is decorated in this specific style by Dorothy Draper and every room really is just incredible. The lamps, the wallpaper, the mirrors, the drapes, it really is something you have to see, and in this post I’m going to tell you all about it!
Map
First, let’s get our bearings. 🤣 Here’s where The Greenbrier is on a map. It’s right on the border of West Virginia and Virginia, and is about a 4 hour drive from Washington D.C. So yea, it’s really out there in the mountains.
Getting There
The closest major airport is the Roanoke – Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA), and then from there you can arrange for private transportation with the resort, which is $450 each way. And it’s a 1.5 hour drive. So as I mentioned before, very inconvenient to get to and remote, and I’d recommend driving there if you can.
Activities
As I mentioned before, the activities at the resort are endless. It is impossible to run out of things to do here. And on an important note, they also have tea time! ☕️ 💕
Shopping
It also basically has an entire shopping mall with tons of stores.
Restaurants
In addition to having endless activities, there are also endless dining options. They have multiple restaurants, coffee shops, cafes, and even an ice cream bar. 🍦
Rooms
The room we stayed in was incredible. We stayed in the West Terrace Suite and it had this ENTIRE ROOFTOP AREA. Like look at that! We could have had like 20 people out there!
The Bunker
If you like history, you’ll be interested to know that there was a secret bunker built here in the 1950’s for Congress. It’s not in use any more, so they offer tours if you want to check it out!
