Disney World Guide

This post has everything you need to know about Disney World! I review all of the parks, best places to stay, and best things to do in every park. I also review some essential tips to know, like how the MagicBands work and the RIGHT way to book your trip. Also keep in mind this is a guide for adults / young adults for the most part. If you are a family and plan on going with kids under the age of 10, I would recommend entirely different rides and experiences. So stay tuned for that guide coming soon, and once it’s posted I will link it here!

Disney World Overview / Map

Here is some general information about Disney World:

  • It’s located in Orlando, Florida and opened in 1971.
  • It’s not to be confused with Disneyland, which is in California.
  • There are 4 parks in Disney World:
    • Magic Kingdom
    • EPCOT
    • Hollywood Studios
    • Animal Kingdom
  • There are also 2 water parks:
    • Typhoon Lagoon
    • Blizzard Beach
  • Usually only one water park is open at a time.

Hotel Info

  • There are a TON of hotel options to stay at, and they are broken up into 3 categories:
    • Deluxe Resorts (most expensive)
    • Moderate Resorts (moderately priced)
    • Value Resorts (least expensive)
  • If you asked me, it really doesn’t matter that much where you stay, as long as it is on Disney property. All of the Disney resorts have complimentary transportation to all of the parks, so it really just comes down to price and ambiance. You also most likely aren’t going to be spending that much time at the hotels anyway, since you’ll be at the parks most of the day.
  • If you are on a tight budget and are going to go the Value Resort route, I’d recommend the Art of Animation hotel. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like the Deluxe or Moderate resorts, but it has really good theming, great artwork, and is a good value.
  • If budget isn’t really an issue, then I’d say the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian, the Wilderness Lodge, the Beach / Yacht Club hotels, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge are great options. These resorts also have cabins and villas if you’re with the whole family and want to be all together (these are VERY pricey though – so be warned!).

How to Book a Trip to Disney

MagicBand Guide

I highly recommend getting MagicBands for your trip. In the video below, I describe exactly how they work and what you can use them for.

Weather

Generally, August and September are the rainier months in central Florida. Even though it may rain, every park has a TON of indoor activities so there is still plenty to do on rainy days. Also, even if rain is in the forecast, it can rain for an hour then be perfectly sunny for the rest of the day. So just keep in mind, even if it rains there’s still PLENTY to do!
