This post covers all of the music documentaries that you need to know about! There are so many great documentaries out there, but these are the ones that stand out to me, and I think are the best. Some are new, some are old, and I’m going to review them all!
Miss Americana
This is the first Taylor Swift documentary you should watch. It was released in 2020, and it’s basically an inside look at her life over the span of a few years. For any Swifties out there, it’s around the time of her Reputation and Lover eras. You can watch it here on Netflix.
Reputation Stadium Tour
After watching Miss Americana, you should watch the Reputation Stadium tour. ICONIC. Is all I have to say. Is Reputation anyone else’s favorite album?? π
Folklore Studio Session
Next, I’d recommend watching the Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Session. She sings all of the songs on the Folklore album acoustically, and also talks a little bit about each song. If she did this for all of her albums, the world would be a better place. π PLEASE TAYLOR. π€£ You can watch it here on Disney+.
Eras Tour
Now that you have some background, it’s time to watch the Eras Tour. The Eras tour is called that because she literally goes through ALL of her eras, and sings songs from EVERY ALBUM she has ever made. You can watch it here on Disney+.
Eras Tour Documentary (?!)
This hasn’t been announced, but I’m just leaving space here in case one is in the works. π€π
Taylor Swift BTS
She has a ton of BTS videos on her youTube channel, and I’ll link some below.
Christina Aguilera 25th Anniversary Show
To celebrate 25 years since the release of her debut album, she did a 25th anniversary show on her YouTube channel to talk about it and sing some of the songs. As you would imagine, it was absolutely incredible and I’ll link it here.
Chappell Roan BTS
She doesn’t have any official like movie documentaries, but there are a few behind the scenes videos that she posted on her YouTube channel that are basically documentaries. I’ll list some of my favorites below:
A Carpool Karaoke Christmas
Chappell also appears in this carpool karaoke christmas special, where they go to her hometown, drive around, and learn about the early stages of her career. A must watch for any Chappell Roan fan! You can watch it here on Apple TV+.
Concrete Castles BTS
If you like rock music, Concrete Castles has an entire playlist of behind the scenes videos for all of their songs from their second album. They talk about the concept of the songs, how they shot the video, how they thought of the story line for the video, so if you’re interested in learning about the process of making music, check out this playlist here.
Kim Petras BTS
You KNOW if there are any Kim Petras BTS videos I’M GONNA FIND EM. π She has a few vlogs on her YouTube channel and I’ll link them below.
