This post has everything you need to know about the Animal Kingdom park at Disney World! I review all of the best things to do, what the best rides are, and what rides you might NOT want to go on. 😄 Also keep in mind this is a guide for adults / young adults for the most part. If you are a family and plan on going with kids under the age of 10, I would recommend entirely different rides and experiences. So stay tuned for that guide coming soon, and once it’s posted I will link it here!
Animal Kingdom Overview
Before I go into the rides, here is a general overview of Animal Kingdom. ⬇️

Ride Guide
Below is a key that I will use to describe all of the rides’ intensity. The green dot means it is a slow, calm, ride for all ages. The yellow dot means it has a bit of a thrill element, like it might have a large drop or be moderately fast. Then the red dot means it is a thrill ride and goes fast, or backwards, has large drops, or a loop. The caution sign means it may cause motion sickness, so if you are prone to that, it’s probably a good idea to either skip it entirely, or have it be the last ride of the day.
Ride Intensity Key:
🟢 – Not an intense ride, good for all ages
🟡 – Medium intensity ride
🔴 – High intensity ride
⚠️ – May cause Motion Sickness
High Priority Activities
These, I would say, are the most fun rides or activities in the park. If you have never ridden any of the rides below, I highly recommend prioritizing them for your next trip. They include:
- Na’vi River Journey – 🟢
- This is a slow ride winding through a river in the world of Pandora. My favorite ride in the park!
- Walk around Pandora
- Expedition Everest – 🔴
- This is a roller coaster that simulates going through a Himalayan mountain.
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 🟢
- You get in safari vehicles and drive around a savanna which has animals like hippos, giraffes, zebras, and more.
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 🔴⚠️
- This is a ride that simulates flying on a banshee in the world of Pandora. It’s a simulator, so if you get sick, ride this last!
- Tree of Life Awakenings Show
- At the end of the day, they sometimes play a show that displays on the tree of life. This show is not every night, so definitely check that it’s happening before you wait around.
Medium Priority Activities
Once you cover everything in the list above, these are some of the fun things I would recommend prioritizing next. They include:
- Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail
- This is a walking trail where you can see gorillas!
- Kali River Rapids – 🟡
- This is a ride where you are on a circular raft that spins down the river. You will probably get wet, but it’s very refreshing on a hot day.
Lower Priority Activities
The rides listed below are still rides or activities to consider, but I wouldn’t prioritize them for your trip. They include:
- There are so few rides in this park, I don’t even have a list of lower priority rides. But the exiting news is there might be a whole new “Tropical Americas” area of the park coming soon, and I’ll link the article with more details here. This area of the park will most likely replace Dinoland, which is a very old and dated area of the park.
